Thinking about a 4th gen Lexus LS460 as the next daily drive now. Found !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! one locally.

I will be looking for a used one, since the top of my budget is about $25k. Anyone have any experience with these as a mechanic? As an owner?

Thanks for any input.

I assume they're absurdly reliable, just like the generations before them. But I'm not sure.

They are nice cars though, daily driver-wise.

Do yourself a favor and don't get a luxury car with black interior unless you enjoy roasting your balls on an open fire.

No experience with the LS.. but my Step-dad had a third gen GS 450h and now owns a fourth gen GS 450h F-sport. Great cars, reliable, fast and comfortable as a bloody limousine.

Not sure how ~400hp in a RWD big body would be boring. Even if it does weigh a shit ton, I would think the V8 would make up for it.

I've been looking at GS's as well. But I've always wanted a big body luxury sedan.

Old boss had one. Loved it to pieces. According to him, it needed nothing apart from the occasional oil change. He eventually traded it in on an RX330, a move he's regretted ever since.

Not to be an ass here, but have you ever driven a lexus? The ones I've driven could hardly be called boring, that said, I've never driven an LS more than a few km on city streets.

I've driven a few Lexus GS's several hundred miles, never felt boring at all and the new IS is AMAZING.

The only reason my sted-dad bought the GS is because we live in Norway, and he thinks an LS would just be too big. I'd've gone for an LS myself if I could afford it.

I've driven no less than 3 of this model LS, one for over a hundred miles. I've driven GS, and daily drove an IS for 2 years. Good enough?

Lexuses are pretty boring, but they are fantastic cars.

bruh there isn't too much exciting about an LS other than a buttery smooth, quiet ride and the most comfortable seats ever.

Its only boring until you try to park it in a crowded lot. Then it becomes a combination of embarrassing and frustrating. I was waiting to get down a row of cars last night while some poor soul was trying to reverse park one of these. He went back and fourth 7 or 8 times before he wedged it into the spot. Would be great on the open road/highway I'm sure.

Take everything that is great about the 7-series, and replace the German engineering with Japanese engineering.

You can really throw these around. Especially with air suspension. Even if not, The twin front upper control arms, thick as fuck sway bars, and Torsen rear end, one can toss thing sleek and powerful beast around with ease. Intuitive, well made, and very capable for DD and when the road gets tight outside the city. These are a blast to drive.

A bit boring, but you could do worse. Expect the highest levels of comforband relaxation, excellent reliability and build quality, and sufficient power. And a lot of numbness, but who cares at that point?

And that is kind of what I am looking for. Maybe add an aftermarket exhaust to give a low rumble.

I'll have exciting when I import an Evo IV in 6 years.

I wouldn't add an exhaust. This car is all about blissful silence and comfort, adding an exhaust would kind of be defeating the purpose.

Those things don't work instantly. And they don't help with the steering wheel, shifter, or any other part you might touch.

Being an ex Lexus Mechanic, is there anything I should look out for? Issues that occurred across the board on these? Anything?
